About VMASC
WHO WE ARE
We are a secure, applied research facility.
The Virginia Modeling, Analysis, and Simulation Center is a multidisciplinary applied research and enterprise research facility of Old Dominion University, located in the Tri-Cities Center in Suffolk, Virginia.
WHO WE SERVE
We serve across community, industry, and government sectors.
Staffed by over two dozen research faculty and project scientists, we provide modeling and simulation, analytic research, and technological support for partners across various industry, government, and community sectors.
WHAT WE DO
We integrate digital technologies into everyday practices through digital transformation.
Workforce Development: By providing student support, incentivizing STEAM thinking, and designing training and behavioral systems, we modernize human capital from conception to actualization to advance tomorrow's digital workforces.
Digital Innovation: By using models, simulations, and visualizations to generate insights, our researchers are able to improve the human condition by challenging conventional wisdom through innovative applications and the development of new digital technologies.
Industry Ecosystem Engagement: By using our longevity and talent pool to catalyze collaboration in growth activities, we encourage partnerships, curate leadership, and coordinate with nation organizations across the government and industry sector.
WHAT WE BUILD
We convert studies and analysis into integrative "whole-picture" solutions which conceptualize systems and provide actionable insights.
Computational Models: Our team of scientists expertly generate computational models for systems analytics and complex data projection and also use cutting-edge theory to incorporate human factors, such as emotion, behaviors, and cultural standards.
Digital Engineering Solutions: Our expertise in cyber-physical systems allows us to assist partners to retrofit outdated technologies with new innovative solutions and create digital engineering pipelines to make working solutions increase productivity, efficiency, and safety.
Information-to-Insight Solutions: Our researchers and scientists generate applicable, material insights to move models beyond theory and understanding into actionability while also developing innovative solutions for decision-making processes.
WHERE WE ARE
We are a highly-connected research architecture located in a state-of-the-art facility in Suffolk, VA supporting ODU and across our community.
State-of-the-Art Facility: Located in the Tri-Cities Center of Suffolk, VA, VMASC researchers and project scientists work with the most advanced tools, technologies, and methods across 11 research labs, 10 conference rooms, and a secure physical and digital storage and processing architecture, to generate insights, foster innovation, and construct solutions in our 60,000 sq. ft. cutting-edge facility.
Old Dominion University (ODU): VMASC supports the University's modeling and simulation degrees and is recognized for its multidisciplinary approach to modeling and simulation research, education, and application; which helped ODU partner with the Systems Engineering Research Center, one of only three Department of Defense university-affiliated research centers in 2018.
Across the Community: From government to industry to the local community, VMASC is invested across all sectors to make modeling and simulation tools available, accessible, and understandable to better navigate the world.
